June 2018 Solana Beach was the first CCA (Community Choice Aggregation) in San Diego County and now they are considering increasing rates to boost revenue. There are many uncertainties and questions yet to be answered. If rates are the same as SDG&E, will Solana Beach residents opt to remain with the CCA?

Throughout San Diego County collaborations are preparing to launch. May 2021 Solana Energy Alliance joins Del Mar & Carlsbad CCA's forming an enhanced CCA - Clean Energy Alliance. The three cities combined estimate to offer their 58,000 customer base rates 2% lower than SDG&E.

The second largest CCA in the State is coming online 2021 serving approximately 920,000 customers. San Diego Community Power is made up of San Diego, Encinitas, Imperial Beach, La Mesa and Chula Vista. The intention is a rate 2% - 4% lower than SDG&E.
