The Findhorn Ecovillage in Scotland makes use of a variety of different building natural and non-toxic materials such as local stone, straw bales, and also repurposed whisky vats that have been collected from the Fife Haig distillery (featured image is below)
Work began in the early 80's with a respectful construction system; environmentally friendly; energy efficient; sustainable. The village in itself is fascinating.
